How it would work is that a new MC1.0 world would b e created with a new map name then I'd set the server to default to that map instead of the current main map, the map names of the current worlds wouldn't change so plugin data which works off of world names would still work for those worlds. If I also create a nether for the new world that would be 7 worlds on the server, if the current main nether and hostile mobs world nether where taken off that would decrease it to 5 worlds and reduce the amount of resources(base server cpu usage, each new world increases this.) the server uses a bit. Going by lwc locks in both nether worlds it only makes up like 1.5% of the locks in the DB.

I have not posted here on the forums yet but i fell the need to post my opinion weather it will matter or not. Going through and reading everyone's thoughts and ideas, i think resetting all the worlds wouldn't be a bad idea. It would clear a lot of building's that are abandon by players who no longer play the server and having a refreshing new environment. As to the matter of everyone losing their hard earned supplies and great buildings, i think if we were to take note of everyone's valuables such as diamond, iron, and coal it would help. So when we spawn in on a new world everybody would be able to start up relatively quicker then everyone using wood and stone tools until they did mine some better resources.

P.S Could someone post a reply listing some of the new things in the 1.9 update? I'm clueless as to what to expect in this update

Sincerely,
Cpt.ABC

One last thing, cartman-2000 do you know when you will be updating the server?

If you haven't been on the server since it was updated, the server's default world has been switched to the new "worldv2" one. I also took the two old nethers off of the server as their where too many nethers on the server(each world adds to the overall cpu usage of the server.).

If you had something on the old nethers it may be possible to get it imported into the new nether. You can look in the nether worlds, I linked in this post, in mcedit and save schematic files of the structures you want transferred over.

Does this mean the nether gates in homes in "cartsworld" and "world" are basically inactive or do they just send you into the newer nether?

Yes, if both nethers were running there would be 7 concurrent world's. That would slow down the server. Plus the 2 old nethers were trashed

they now point to the new nether, all normal type worlds, including skylands target the new nether, the new nether targets the new main world.

with the single nether you can do gate hubs going through nether, going to the other worlds, I already did one for the spawn nethergates.
