Ok, so I went to high school and took a class in 3-D modeling, I was thinking about getting software for my computer soon, and I wanted to make something with it. I thought my first project should be a 3-D model of him, I also want to see if I can get a prototype plastic model of it from my CAD teacher, but It won'e be done until I finish building my own computer. Because I want to make the best model possible.

what software are you planning to use? I was trained in previous versions of the 'big 3'

lightwav
Maya
3D studio Max

I never got to play with the wood or plastic prototype makers as my college simply couldn't afford anything that awesome at the time. Geez, I just realized I'm literally 10 years out of date with the 3d software :/

Well, i'll end up using more engineering software, like solidworks. Or Rhino 3-D because those are the only programs that the prototyping machine works with >.>

I've used Rhino before, not bad if you know what you are doing, not my first pick though.

When I took an engineering class our final project was printed out in 3D, but we had to make flashlights.... kinda disappointing.

Well in that class we learned all areas of drafting. We did technical drawings, architectural, design. So I used all kinds of programs, I would love to use solidworks but the software is way to expensive for me to be able to afford on my paycheck. So I think I am gonna use Rhino because I got pretty good at it, I'm just doing sketches in my notebook of sizes because the printer can only do 7" tall figures, so I may just make separate models of each part and then put it together rather than one big model.
Once all my sketches are done I'll attach them and you guys could give me feedback.
